SkyShowtime reveals official trailer and release date for Swedish-Finnish Original, Codename: Annika – coming exclusively to the platform this September
SkyShowtime today revealed the official trailer, key art and premiere date for its new original series Codename: Annika - an exciting twist on the Nordic Noir genre. The series will be available exclusively on SkyShowtime from Saturday 30 September. The first episode will be available to stream on the premiere day, with new episodes dropping weekly.
The six-part thriller series, created by Mia Ylönen and Aleksi Bardy, takes you behind the curtain of the hidden world of high-class art-fraud and explores the reality of navigating a double identity. Codename: Annika is led by Sannah Nedergård (Yellow Sulphur Sky) as Finnish art fraud investigator Emma / Annika, marking this her first leading role in an international crime drama series.
The SkyShowtime Original stars Ardalan Esmaili (Snabba Cash) as Rasmus Ståhlgren, Eva Melander (Border) as Rina Olander and Helena Bergström (House of Angels) as Agatha Torstensson, along with Pekka Strang (Tom of Finland) as Raimo Korpi, Miro Lopperi (Aikuiset) as Sampo Raivio, Clarisse Lhoni-Botte (Rolling to You) as Béatrice Joly and Charles Martins (Emily in Paris) as Denver Carpentier. The series is directed by AJ Annila (Peacemaker), one of Finland’s foremost directors.
In this crime drama series, Finnish detective Emma Haka is still completing her undercover training when she gets sent on a mission into Stockholm's corrupt world of fine art trade. She takes on the wild and fiery alias of Annika Stormare. As the investigation takes Emma deeper into the underworld, lines start to blur between her and Annika – who was once alive and left a tangled web of mysteries in her wake.
Codename: Annika has received development support from Finnish Film Foundation and Creative Europe Programme - MEDIA of the European Union and is financed by Business Finland - Audiovisual Production Incentive. Co-creators for Helsinki-Filmi are Mia Ylönen and Aleksi Bardy.
