SkyShowtime today announced its newest commissioned original programming project in Poland – Langer. This is the second project in Poland announced by SkyShowtime in recent months, following the news that SkyShowtime Original Series Śleboda started filming in April.

The announcement was made by SkyShowtime Chief Content Officer Kai Finke during a panel discussion at industry event Content Warsaw, where he shared details about the service’s entertainment line-up.

Langer, a six-part thriller starring Jakub Gierszał as Piotr Langer, tells a story of a young, ambitious businessman who inherited a financial holding from his tragically deceased father. In his free time, Piotr indulges in his long-time passion - he is an elusive serial killer who has evaded prosecutors for years.

One day, a stunning woman - Nina - appears in his life at a charity gala, capturing Langer's attention and eager to get closer to him. Shortly after, she finds herself embroiled in a dangerous game and a relationship with Langer, which proves to be complicated as she seeks to find evidence to prove he is a killer. Will justice prevail this time...?

SkyShowtime Original series Langer is an adaptation of a novel by bestselling author Remigiusz Mróz. The series will be produced by Violetta Furmaniuk-Zaorska (The Behaviorist, The Disappearance) and directed by Łukasz Palkowski (Bogowie, Breaking The Limits, The Disappearance).

Further details about the series will be announced in due course.

Newly announced Langer will become an important part of SkyShowtime's expansion into original programming together with recently announced co-produced SkyShowtime Original Documentary Schmeichel a two-part documentary about a giant of football – Danish goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, and crime series Śleboda starring Maria Dębska, Maciej Musiał and Piotr Pacek.

Recently announced new and exclusive series coming to SkyShowtime include Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace’s Landman, starring Billy Bob Thornton and Demi Moore and The Day of the Jackal, starring Eddie Redmayne and Lashana Lynch. SkyShowtime subscribers can also look forward to box office hits such as Bob Marley: One Love, Mean Girls, Migration and Academy Award®-nominee for Best Picture - The Holdovers.

SkyShowtime Chief Content Officer, Kai Finke said: SkyShowtime continues to increase its portfolio of original programming for local audiences. Our latest Polish commission - SkyShowtime Original Series Langer - will be a six-part thriller based on the novel by the bestselling author Remigiusz Mróz. We are excited to expand our local programming offering with such a strong and captivating story and the fantastic Jakub Gierszał at the helm.”
