SkyShowtime returns to Stockholm International Film Festival as the official streaming partner for the second year in a row and remains committed to celebrating the very best up-and-coming Swedish talent by presenting the SkyShowtime Rising Star Award alongside the festival team.

Fans of the festival can expect to see SkyShowtime at the Drive-In, Sommarbio - the biggest outdoor cinema in Europe, and at the 35th edition of Stockholm International Film Festival itself. There will be a range of exciting SkyShowtime activations this year, starting with SkyShowtime arriving at Drive-In Cinemas in classic vehicles inspired by the 1883 and 1923 series, prequels to the epic Yellowstone saga.

During the core festival dates in November, SkyShowtime will host an insightful panel around the ever-growing importance of original content, featuring a senior leader from the streamer’s content team.  Bringing the session to life, a selection of SkyShowtime entertainment will be made available to watch at the festival, emphasising its proposition of bringing together the best of Hollywood and local entertainment in one place.

SkyShowtime Chief Content Officer, Kai Finke said: “I had the pleasure of speaking at Stockholm International Film Festival in 2023 and witnessed the passion and dedication the team had for delivering a festival programme that showcased a diverse range of the most exciting international and local entertainment at that time. It resonates so incredibly well with our proposition at SkyShowtime, that we had to return this year!”

Magnus Larsson, Head of Marketing at Stockholm International Film Festival, said: “We are super happy to continue this successful partnership for another year with SkyShowtime as our Official Streaming Partner. It's a perfect match having SkyShowtime present the important “Rising Star Award”, where we together will honour the next upcoming and talented star in the business. Combining our efforts with a pioneering brand in the entertainment space, such as SkyShowtime, will help us move forward as one of the leading film festivals in Europe.”

The winner of the SkyShowtime Rising Star Award will be announced during the Stockholm International Film Festival's Award Ceremony in November 2024.

The Rising Star Award was founded in 2008 with the goal of highlighting young actors who have delivered outstanding performances in film and television throughout the year and have the potential to become tomorrow's big stars. The purpose of the award is to early on showcase Swedish talents in their careers and invite them to the Stockholm International Film Festival, where they have the opportunity to network within the film industry. The winner also receives a trip to Cannes Film Festival the following year, where they can meet international industry professionals and attend Red Carpet screenings. Among the prize winners and nominees are notable names such as Alicia Vikander, Joel Kinnaman, Rebecca Ferguson, Alba August, Edvin Ryding, Sara Shirpey, and most recently, the acclaimed actor Hanna Ardéhn.
