16 December 2024 - SkyShowtime today revealed an outstanding range of new titles arriving in 2025 including new and exclusive series, local originals and first-run Hollywood films. Premiere dates have also been announced for a selection of hit series and movies.
Headline series include the highly anticipated Dexter: Original Sin launching on 30 January. Set in 1991 Miami, the Dexter prequel follows Dexter Morgan (Patrick Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. Political thriller The Agency also joins the line-up and is set to premiere on 10 February. Starring two-time Academy Award® nominee Michael Fassbender alongside Jeffrey Wright, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Richard Gere and executive produced by George Clooney, this 10-part series, based on the hit French drama Le Bureau des Légendes, follows Martian (Fassbender), a covert CIA agent ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London.
Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, a five-part limited series starring Academy Award®, BAFTA, Golden Globe and SAG Award-winning actor Colin Firth will air on 28 February. The series delves into the 1988 Lockerbie disaster, where 259 passengers and crew were killed when Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie 38 minutes after take-off, with a further 11 residents losing their lives as the plane came down over the quiet, Scottish town. In the wake of the disaster and his daughter’s death, Dr. Jim Swire (Firth), is nominated spokesperson for the UK victims’ families, and embarks on a relentless journey that not only jeopardises his stability, family and life, but completely overturns his trust in the justice system.
SkyShowtime has also announced a brand new, as yet untitled drama from legendary director Guy Ritchie coming in 2025. The New Guy Ritchie Project, which will star Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, is centered around two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch across all corners of the globe and the fiercely loyal “fixer” charged with protecting one of them at all costs.
Deviously twisted drama Sweetpea also features from 2 January. Starring Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets), this ‘coming-of-rage’ story has been adapted from the 2017 C.J. Skuse novel of the same name.
2025 will also mark the arrival of The Madison, the recently announced next installment in Oscar®-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan’s expanding Yellowstone universe. Starring Golden Globe winner Michelle Pfeiffer in a heartfelt study of grief and human connection, the series follows a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana. The Dexter franchise also continues to satiate avid fans of the original series, with Dexter: Resurrection set to launch later next year, showcasing the return of Golden Globe and SAG Winner Michael C. Hall to the role he made famous.
Newly announced returning seasons set to premiere exclusively on SkyShowtime include the second season of hit series Poker Face, starring Natasha Lyonne, season three of Gangs of London, featuring Joe Cole and Sopé Dìrísu, and season two of the highly anticipated Yellowstone origin story, 1923, starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, launching 10 March. From 9 February docuseries Schmeichel will chronicle the highs and lows of iconic Danish footballer Peter Schmeichel, mapping the incredible rise to fame and astonishing 22-year career of one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time.
SkyShowtime Original Recipe for Murder will explore a headline-grabbing case that sent shockwaves around the world. The five-part documentary series, from renowned documentary filmmaker Jose Gomez, tracks the violent death of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta at the hands of Daniel Sancho, a 29-year-old aspiring chef and son of one of Spain’s most well-known actors.
These must-watch SkyShowtime Original Series will also be joined by Spanish psychological thriller Shades (Matices), six-part serial killer drama Langer from Poland and the second season of hit Nordic crime series Veronika, due to premiere later in 2025. Suspenseful Polish crime story Śleboda and Spanish comedy Mamen Mayo will also launch across all SkyShowtime markets on 20 February and 27 February respectively.
For movie lovers, an exciting line-up of Hollywood hits will make their debut on SkyShowtime early in 2025, including Apartment 7A, available from 31 December, the original movie Star Trek: Section 31 on 7 February, Despicable Me 4 on 10 February and MaXXXine on 16 February, with Transformers One and Smile 2 slated to join them later in the year.
