Today, SkyShowtime announced that production is underway for new comedy series Nails. The upcoming SkyShowtime Original Series is the third locally commissioned original in Spain.
The series will be shot between Madrid and Bilbao. It stars a stellar cast including Cristina Castaño (Toy Boy), Marimar Vega (Las trampas del deseo), Gracia Olayo (La Mesías), Teresa Cuesta (Machos Alfa), Fernando Tejero (La que se avecina), Javier Antón (Vaya semanita), Juanjo Cucalón (Amar es para siempre) and Raúl Mérida (Regreso a Las Sabinas).
Nails tells the story of four women from different backgrounds and of different ages who meet in a nail salon. Their repeated encounters will spark a unique friendship, turning them into partners in crime, influencing the most important decision of their lives: to reject who they have become and discover the women they want to be. Lina, Vanessa, Irene and Marilís are all subjected to chronic stress in their eagerness to fulfil all the requirements demanded to be ‘perfect’ in today’s world. They represent today's femininity. But what has happened to their ability to choose? Are they victims of what is expected of them? These questions will lead the protagonists to rebel against their reality causing an emotional tsunami in their families. They will be shaken by a decision that will turn their lives upside down, leading to the spontaneous creation of ‘The Free Women's Club’, a safe space and sisterhood intended to help other women solve their problems.
Nails is produced by Federation Spain in association with SkyShowtime and the collaboration of Telemundo Studios. The series is created by Araceli Álvarez de Sotomayor, who also serves as writer and director. She and Mario Montero serve as creative executive producers; and Laura Oliva, Nacho Manubens and Juan Solá are executive producers.
Nails joins SkyShowtime’s growing portfolio of original programming with 20 SkyShowtime Originals delivered since launch, and a further 10 to come in 2025.
