Legendary goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel, his family and special guests celebrated the launch of the SkyShowtime Original two-part documentary series at an exclusive launch event in Copenhagen

Last night, streaming service SkyShowtime proudly hosted the exclusive world premiere of SkyShowtime Original documentary series Schmeichel in Copenhagen. Both episodes will be available exclusively to stream across SkyShowtime’s 20+ markets on 9 February.
Peter Schmeichel appeared on the red carpet with his family who were joined by top local and international talent from the worlds of entertainment and sports including players from the 1992 Denmark team.
Hosted at Villa Copenhagen by international sports broadcaster Jules Breach, the exclusive event was opened by SkyShowtime CEO Monty Sarhan.
The two-part documentary delves into Peter Schmeichel's astonishing 22-year football career and his life beyond the sport. Described by Sir Alex Ferguson as ‘the greatest goalkeeper of all time’ and credited by his peers as ‘reinventing the position of the goalkeeper’, Schmeichel features unprecedented access to the man himself as he lifts the lid on what it really takes to be one of the world’s greatest sportsmen.
Schmeichel is directed by Owen Davies and produced by Simon Lazenby and Victoria Barrell from Sylver Entertainment, with Dogwoof as Executive Producers.
The two-part documentary delves into Schmeichel's astonishing 22-year football career and life beyond the sport. Featuring unprecedented access to the international sporting hero, with a mix of never-before-seen personal archive footage, interviews with Peter Schmeichel, his family and key figures such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Eric Cantona and Gary Neville who have been a part of his journey both on and off the pitch.
Schmeichel played a key role in the Danish national team’s sensational victory at the 1992 UEFA European Championship and was an indispensable part of Manchester United’s most successful era under Sir Alex Ferguson.
