SkyShowtime announces new original series Where the Sun Always Shines, created and directed by Felix Herngren
Erik “Jerka” Johansson, Rakel Wärmländer, Per Lasson and Lisa Linnertorp to lead the star-studded Swedish cast
Today, SkyShowtime announced Where the Sun Always Shines – a brand new six-part SkyShowtime Original Series from director, writer and actor Felix Herngren (Sunny Side, Bonus Family). The dark Swedish dramedy series which was filmed on location in Mallorca, Spain, will be available to stream on the service later this year.
The lead cast of the SkyShowtime Original have also been revealed - Erik Johansson (Bonus Family) as Timmy Kraft, Rakel Wärmländer (Limbo) as Maja Kraft, along with Per Lasson (Thin Blue Line) as Tom Kraft and Lisa Linnertorp (Sunny Side) as Petra Kraft.
Where the Sun Always Shines follows Tom (Per Lasson) and Petra (Lisa Linnertorp), a successful couple who have built up a large Ica Maxi store in Linköping and sold it for a record sum. They have been living a life of luxury in Mallorca with their sons for a month, ready to enjoy an eternal vacation. But their lives take an unexpected turn during Tom's 50th birthday party, leading his brother Timmy (Erik “Jerka” Johansson) and his wife Maja (Rakel Wärmländer) to move their family to the sunny climes of Mallorca, where chaos ensues.

After just a week in our new country, Spain, the idea for this series began to take shape. There were so many life stories, dreams, and fascinating cultural clashes to turn into drama and comedy. And I’m especially happy that SkyShowtime wanted to develop it with us!''

Where the Sun Always Shines from Scandinavian production company FLX, is created and directed by Felix Herngren (Sunny Side, Bonus Family), and produced by Sussan Treschow (Jana – Marked for life, Meaning of Life) with SkyShowtime and SVT serving as co-producers. Head scriptwriter Maria Nygren (Meaning of Life, Love & Anarchy) is joined by scriptwriter Josefin Johansson (Love & Anarchy, Top Dog), with Jessica Ericstam (Sunny Side, Meaning of Life) serving as Executive Producer for FLX.
