Today, SkyShowtime revealed the official trailer for its new six-part Swedish original Where the Sun Always Shines, set to premiere exclusively on 10 November. SkyShowtime also revealed that Sweden’s three-time Grammy® winner and Academy Award® nominated pop sensation Molly Sandén has joined the highly anticipated series to perform the title song.
The freshly released trailer for new dramedy Where the Sun Always Shines - from critically acclaimed writer and director Felix Herngren (Sunny Side, Bonus Family) - offers a tantalising preview of what audiences can expect when an idyllic start to one family’s new life in Mallorca begins to unravel, despite living where the sun always shines. Set to new track “Där runt hörnet’, which has been written by Molly Sandén, Maria Jane Smith, David Morup and David Larson and produced by the latter two, the trailer has all of Sandén’s distinctive energy and flair and sets the perfect tone for not only the comedy but also the drama that unfolds.
Felix Herngren said: ‘’Molly and I have talked a lot about the story in the series, and about people’s different desires to change their lives. How you often move to or away from something. And then, when Molly played the song for the first time, I was so incredibly happy with the result. It’s not just good, it’s absolutely amazing!’’
Filmed on location in Mallorca, Where the Sun Always Shines follows Tom (Lasson) and Petra (Linnertorp), a successful Swedish couple who sell their hypermarket in Sweden for a record sum to live a life of luxury on the Spanish island. But during Tom’s 50th birthday party, events take an unexpected turn – pulling Tom’s brother Timmy (Johansson) and wife Maja (Wärmländer) into the mix, setting off a chain of family drama.
The series features an all-start cast including Erik ‘Jerka’ Johansson (Bonus Family), Rakel Wärmländer (Limbo), Per Lasson (Thin Blue Line), Lisa Linnertorp (Sunny Side) and acclaimed actors Claes Månsson (Äntligen!) and Suzanne Reuter (The Restaurant).
Where the Sun Always Shines, from Scandinavian production company FLX, is created and directed by Felix Herngren (Sunny Side, Bonus Family), and produced by Sussan Treschow (Jana – Marked for life, Meaning of Life) with SkyShowtime and SVT serving as co-producers. Head scriptwriter Maria Nygren (Meaning of Life, Love & Anarchy) is joined by scriptwriter Josefin Johansson (Love & Anarchy, Top Dog), with Jessica Ericstam (Sunny Side, Meaning of Life) serving as Executive Producer for FLX.
Known in Sweden for her addictive Pop music, Molly Sandén has seven studio albums to her name with her eight, Blåögd, released this year. Sandén has lent her voice to numerous projects, including Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, in which the featured song was nominated for an Academy Award and led to her performing at the Oscars.
