SkyShowtime today announced the premiere date and revealed the key art for its first Polish original documentary commission, the four-part series Krychowiak: One Step from the Top.
Launching exclusively across all 20+ markets on 27 November, the SkyShowtime Original offers a behind-the-scenes look at the life of former Polish national football player Grzegorz Krychowiak, who officially announced his retirement from professional sport yesterday.
In recent months, Krychowiak has embarked on an insightful journey through various stages of his personal and professional life — a journey closely followed by cameras at almost every turn. Throughout the series he reflects on both his past and future with honesty, humour, and the added perspective gained after taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Everest. Produced by Papaya Films (Lewandowski: Unknown, Kuba, and SZCZĘSNY) the series is directed by Jan Dybus (Kuba), with Kacper Sawicki serving as creative producer.
In Krychowiak: One Step from the Top Grzegorz Krychowiak takes viewers on a deeply personal journey through various stages of his life and career. As football gradually takes a back seat, he boldly begins to chase new dreams - supported by his loved ones every step of the way. Throughout four episodes, he brings humour, honesty, and his own fresh perspective, grounded in the belief that happiness is more than just the sum of life’s highs and lows.
Krychowiak: One Step from the Top is the first documentary production and the latest original series created in Poland for SkyShowtime. On 16 October, the crime series The Cop. A New Chapter (Glina. Nowy rozdział) premiered on the service, further expanding its line-up of Polish original productions. Among them are the drama Warszawianka, the crime series Śleboda, and the thriller Langer, based on the novel by Remigiusz Mróz.
