SkyShowtime today announced its hit original series Veronika, starring Alexandra Rapaport, will return exclusively on 8 December and shared a first look clip alongside new key art and images from the second season. The acclaimed Swedish crime thriller made a darkly addictive 2024 debut which captivated audiences and set the tone for a suspense-fuelled season two.
In the first look clip, audiences are offered a glimpse of Alexandra Rapaport (Gåsmamman, Honour), who reprises her role as haunted yet determined police officer Veronika Gren, alongside Arvin Kananian (Triangle of Sadness, Caliphate), who plays police detective Nassir Hakim. Coupled with the newly released key art and first-look stills, it gives a gripping preview of season two’s taut, emotional landscape.
The new season continues to follow Veronika, who is still struggling with the repercussions of her past and her mysterious visions. Longing for normality, she's impatient to return to her regular post in the police force. As the series unfolds, she finds herself in the middle of a dark and perplexing murder mystery, rooted 60 years back in time. Torn between the world of the living and the dead, Veronika’s facade begins to crack, and an inevitable chain of events puts everything she’s worked to rebuild at risk. The returning cast also includes Tobias Santelmann, Eddie Eriksson Dominguez, and Sarah Rhodin, joined by new cast members Gustav Hammarsten and Hanna Alström.
Created and written by Katja Juras and Anna Ströman (Gåsmamman) and directed by Academy Award® nominee Mikael Håfström (Evil, Derailed), Veronika is produced by Calle Jansson and Mathias Gruffman at Bigster, with Alexandra Rapaport also serving as Executive Producer.
