SkyShowtime has today announced the launch date of The Tribute (El Homenaje), its upcoming Spanish SkyShowtime Original series, which will premiere on the service with four episodes on 23 April followed by the remaining four episodes the following week. The series will also be exclusively presented in the “5 Minutes” section at the 29th edition of the Festival de Málaga with its director and cast members in attendance.
This eight-episode psychological thriller brings together many of the renowned cast of Shades (Matices) in a completely new story, filled with mysterious characters and secrets waiting to be uncovered.
Eusebio Poncela (in what marks his final work in fiction), Miriam Giovanelli, Juana Acosta, Enrique Arce, Raúl Prieto, Luis Tosar, Luisa Mayol and Elsa Pataky step away from their previous roles to bring to life entirely new storylines and characters. They are joined by exciting new talent including Manu Ríos, Álvaro Rico, Ángela Molina, Óscar de la Fuente and Georgina Amorós, among others.
The Tribute (El Homenaje) tells the story of Adolfo Novak (Eusebio Poncela), patriarch of one of the most powerful families in the country, who gathers his family and close friends to celebrate his 80th birthday. Behind the toasts and smiles lie decades of secrets, betrayals, blind loyalties and a strong desire for revenge. The evening will build to an explosive climax, revealing a truth that, when it finally comes to light, will be much more unexpected and surprising than previously suspected.
The series is produced by El Homenaje la serie S.L. (Secuoya Studios) Studios and Stellarmedia in association with SkyShowtime and in collaboration with Prime Video. Elsa Pataky and Sergio Cánovas serve as executive producers, with Cánovas also acting as director. The series is written by Javier Naya and Martín Suárez and created by them both together with Sergio Cánovas.
The Tribute (El Homenaje) is just one of SkyShowtime’s growing slate of Spanish originals, which include true crime docuseries A Recipe for Murder (Receta para un asesinato), the psychological thriller Shades (Matices), comedy Nails and drama Road to Arcadia (Camino a Arcadia).
