The gripping, action-packed series Morpheus (Morfeusz) is the latest Polish SkyShowtime Original, set to debut on the platform on 2 June. The first look teases the seven-episode crime thriller which centres on lawyer Piotr Leyer (Kamil Szeptycki) as he finds himself tangled up in the family business. Starring in the series alongside Szeptycki (Chopin, Chopin!) are Andrzej Grabowski (Pitbull), Mateusz Kmiecik (Śleboda), and Sylwia Gola (Rojst).
Morpheus (Morfeusz) follows the story of Piotr Leyer, a lawyer who, through a tragic twist of fate, becomes the head of a criminal gang. When he assumes control of the organised crime group previously led by his brother—and before that, his father—it quickly becomes clear that the young Leyer, to everyone’s surprise, fits remarkably well into the brutal world of crime. A seemingly ordinary husband and father becomes increasingly effective in his new role, gradually crossing more and more boundaries.
Wider cast revealed today includes Sonia Bohosiewicz, Andrzej Konopka, Józefina Siwko, and Magdalena Wieczorek, plus guest appearances from Jan Błachowicz, Jędrzej Taranek, and Michał Waleszczyński.
The series is directed by Maciej Migas (Miłość jak miód, Bracia) and written by Michał Wawrzecki (LARP. Miłość, trolle i inne questy) with cinematography by Bartek Cierlica (Akademia Pana Kleksa, Dziki). Morpheus (Morfeusz) is produced for SkyShowtime by TFP, with Andrzej Papis and Maciej Sowiński serving as producers.
Morpheus (Morfeusz) joins a growing line-up of Polish SkyShowtime Originals including the recently premiered two-part documentary Edyta Górniak, telling the story of the remarkable artist and her journey - from a modest girl from Ziębice to the international stage. SkyShowtime’s other upcoming originals include the highly-anticipated series Pionek, a continuation of the story of Śleboda.
