Today SkyShowtime released the trailer for the second season of its hit Swedish dramedy Where the Sun Always Shines (Där Solen Alltid Skiner), which will be available to stream exclusively on the service from 16 November. The dark Swedish dramedy, created and directed by Felix Herngren (Where The Sun Always Shines S1 (Där Solen Alltid Skiner S1) , Sunny Side), has quickly become one of the platform’s standout performers, driven by its blend of dark humour and emotional depth. The new season picks up where the first left off, following the two brothers and their families as they attempt to build a new life in the Spanish sun while continuing to grapple with unresolved conflicts and complex family dynamics.

Now in their second year in Mallorca, Tom, Timmy and their families are beginning to feel at home. But as life starts to resemble the dream they had imagined, reality begins to catch up with them.

Timmy receives a very serious letter from the local authorities creating a major concern for his family’s living situation. Tom has made a new Norwegian friend who is convinced that modern men have lost their way. Petra longs for a life filled with more spirituality and intimacy with her husband, but he is more interested in talking about the Romans and the ancient world. And Maja has a more pressing problem: the man she had an affair with is on his way to Mallorca. Along with his choir.

The sun is still shining. But underneath, things are starting to get rather messy.

The SkyShowtime Original series, created and directed by Felix Herngren, sees the return of Per Lasson, Lisa Linnertorp, Erik ‘Jerka’ Johansson and Rakel Wärmländer, joined for the second season by leading actors Kristofer Hivju (Game of Thrones, The Iris Affair), Johan Glans (The Swedish Connection) and Celie Sparre (The Truth Will Out, The Trio (Trion)).

Where the Sun Always Shines (Där Solen Alltid Skiner) is produced by award-winning Scandinavian production company FLX, created and directed by Herngren (Sunny Side, Bonus Family), and produced by Sussan Treschow (Jana – Marked for life, Meaning of Life) with SkyShowtime and SVT as co-producer. Head scriptwriter Erik Ahrnbom (Thin Blue Line, Keep It Together) joins for the second season, alongside writers Maria Nygren (Meaning of Life, Love & Anarchy) and Martin Larsson (Keep It Together), with Jessica Ericstam (Sunny Side, Meaning of Life) serving as Executive Producer for FLX.

The second season of Where the Sun Always Shines (Där Solen Alltid Skiner) joins a slate of hit local originals including poignant drama series The Trio (Trion), sports documentary Schmeichel and popular crime drama Veronika seasons 1 – 3.
